Frequently Asked Questions Well, who knows... too much beer... not enough time... the list goes on and on ;). It all started in September of 1999 when Dan had a stroke of genius (which explains why we let him design most of the site). We would like to see AOL become a better service provider. Contrary to common belief, we do not want to see the downfall of AOL, per se, but rather the downfall of AOL in its current form. Right now, AOL has too many problems to mention in one short sentence, or even a paragraph. Ultimately, we would like to see AOL become a legitimate part of the Internet, rather than thumbing its nose and overcharging customers. Currently we are not. We all have 9 to 5 jobs, and do this mostly for enjoyment. That's our enjoyment, not necessarily yours :). Well, you can always send news articles to news@anti-aol.org, you can partcipate on the message board, spam our site on yours... tell people about us... stuff like that. Well, don't like mail 400 people with our URL or anything... Oh, yeah... send us money... money is always good... of course, if you don't have money, coffee, beer and cheese-steaks work too :). Well, I hate to tell you this, but sorry, you can't. For a short time we were accepting applications from aspiring web designers, but due to a lack of interest on both sides, we decided to scrap that. Now, rather than having a sort of collection of AOL sucks sites, we have one all inclusive site with a uniform design and our personal pages as a kinda side project. No. Perhaps in the future if and when we host the site off of our own server, but at the moment we see the potential for abuse as being too high. You can :). I can't tell you exactly how, but it can be done. My guess is that you need to write some sort of CGI script that can import and properly display XML. The document you would need to import is located at: http://anti-aol.org/news/news.cdf and is a 'My Netscape' channel document. If someone happens to come across a script or beats me to writing one, please let me know and/or send it to us. dan@anti-aol.org. Well... a whole bunch of SSI (Server Side Includes) for the most part. All of the menus are included text files, our news and headlines are included text files... just about everything you see here has some SSI on the page. But as for actual perl scripts, our news is generated by NewsPro which is a *great* program and does damn near anything you could ever need... well with several addons that is :). Our message board is UltraBoard and so far we are pretty happy with is :). Note: All text, graphics, HTML code, and sounds are exclusively the property of Anti-AOL.org unless otherwise indicated.
